Globalization

August 28, 2007 at 11:02 am (Writing)

I’m going to be using this blog for a school project about globalization and web design until December. So I WILL actually be posting for a bit. :P I’ll probably go back to writing solely on my regular blog after that.

Four Down

March 8, 2006 at 7:12 pm (Writing)

I have finished my fourth complete novel! The vampire trilogy is complete. I did it last Friday night by writing until after 5:00 a.m. So I now have four drafts collecting dust in my room. It’s a good feeling. I’m going to use my newly freed-up spare time to… work on Ever. Well, what can I say, writing is my life. Ever is, I think, the most marketable of my current projects, and thanks to a visit from Laurie Drummond (former St. Edward’s creative writing professor), I now have a great idea about how to flesh out my characters. She came to Doug Dorst‘s 2:00 Intro to CW class yesterday and I sat in for most of it, and at one point she was talking about interviews. Then the idea of interviewing my charcters just popped into my head. And the more I thought about it, the more I liked the idea. So, since yesterday I have begun writing a seven-page interview with Ever, and it’s not even close to being finished. It’s helping me get a lot of Ever’s personality and backstory down in substantial form, something that will be a huge help when I’m writing the actual story.

Anyway, I think it’s amazing that in less than a year and a half, I have written three complete first drafts plus one second draft, and then some. It took me more than two years just to finish my first novel. I owe it all to the discovery of NaNoWriMo, which was the kick in the pants I needed to get going. Thank you, Chris Baty!

Inaugural Post

March 5, 2006 at 11:13 pm (Everything)

I finally decided to have a public blog that I could attach my name to, and this is it! Eventually it will be a part of my website, but the website has yet to be built, and it can only be modified from a school computer, which will make things difficult. Will have to contact McGuffee about fixing that glitch, but I won’t really need it until the summer. And someday, maybe, if it becomes worth the money, I might get my own domain name. That will be awesome.

Anyway, I’m not completely familiar with WordPress yet (I’m a child of LiveJournal), but it looks very professional and polished, which I like. I found out about it from reading Scott Westerfeld’s blog. His entries are interesting and often amusing, and he’s one of the best YA authors I’ve ever encountered.

So, here it is. Someday to be part of www.rebeccaleach.com. :D
